Mandarin Chinese Course
PROGRAM OF STUDY
Although Mandarin (Chinese) has not been well localized in the world, but as strange it sounds, the fact is, Mandarin is the number one spoken language in the world. Thus to learn Mandarin provides you with an unique opportunity of being amongst the few locals who can actually speak and understand the language in South Africa.
Nan Hua academy is dedicated to provide a 12-week of intensive Mandarin course for anyone interested to learn.
The goal of the program is to provide students with intensive oral-aural language instruction, and to further reading ability in general materials and, as appropriate, in various disciplines or professional fields.
The Course consists of 10 hours of class per week. All students will be given homework and class tests. Each student is expected to be prepared for classes in all means possible, thus timely submission of homework and regular tests will be highly monitored.
Class time will be between 08:00 to 10:00 and 10:00 to 12:00 Monday to Friday accept during public holidays and no classes will be offered on weekends.
GRADES AND CREDITS
NHA provides a descriptive record of work done by all students enrolled, but does not attempt to evaluate these records in terms of academic credits. Students’ home institutions (if any) retain the right to evaluate work done at NHA according to their own standards. NHA provides language training to students. It does not direct students in or toward particular academic or professional careers.
STUDY LEVELS
Level 1: -Between 300-600 Chinese characters, you should be able to provide short answers to basic conversations, like what is your name, how are you, how do I get there, etc.
Level 2: Between 600-800 Chinese characters, you should be able to have a basic understanding of reading, speaking, listening and writing.
Level 3: Between 800-1200 Chinese characters, you should be able to make short sentences, speak and answer simple questions.
Level 4: 1200-1600 Chinese characters, you should speak well, communicate and make complicated statements.
Level 5: 1600-2000 Chinese characters, primary phase, capable to write, listening, speaking and reading well.
Level 6: 2000-2600 Chinese characters, high school level, you can work or study in China and Taiwan without any difficulties.
CONDITIONS:
This is a progressive study, hence one has to complete and pass the previous level before progressing to the next level.
COST: Each level has one test which costs R200.00 and is payable directly to ICPT. ICPT will then issue a certificate to you when you pass the course with a minimum of 60% in the exam. NHA will not issue any certificates, proof or testimonials. All students will pay for ICPT in order to receive the accreditation for the course.
